I certainly agree with you, Mark. Robots was stunning to look at but enervating to watch in one sitting. The story! The story! The story!

I am glad for Chris Wedge that he's getting his project off the ground, but I have yet to see anything animated made from a William Joyce book that I thought was any good. I hope this films breaks that streak.

Thanks David!

Actually this is an entirely new book, a Volume 2 of sorts. So the first book will still remain intact as it is, and hopefully stay in print awhile longer.

Glad to hear that Ken Priebe's great stop-motion book is being updated (hey, Ken, isn't that book out-of-print ? .... ha-ha , private joke. )

Seriously it's a very good book (very much in print) and a new , updated edition will be welcome. I want to mention that Ken is currently teaching some wonderful stop-motion classes online at Academy of Art. Currently has Experimental Animation and Stop-Motion Animation 1 running. As of Spring 2010 semester we also have Ken's class Stop-Motion 2 added to the stop-motion animation track.

(Ken didn't put me up to that plug ... I'm just bragging on him a little !)

"Chichibio and the Crane" isn't that hard to find. Many available copies, for great prices, at AbeBooks.com

He walked by my studio about a month ago. If he weren't in conversation with a woman, I would have stopped him.
I did talk with him and Klaus Kinski at the NYFilm Festival back in the early 80's. I think Kinski was bothered that I gave Herzog more attention. He's very open.

I had the same reaction to the Herzog story.

How great would that be!

About two months ago I passed him on the corner of 14th and Sixth. He nearly became the first "celebrity" I stopped in public.
