Grabs – SB ending – 1

- Continuing with yesterday’s post on the end of Sleeping Beauty. I’ve decided to get the frame grabs for the sequence and post them as well. I thought the comparison of board to actual film interesting.
__________

These images come from the “Special Edition” of the dvd, not the “Platinum Edition” now on the market. Using Hans Perk‘s posts of the drafts for these scenes, I was able to identify the animators’ names. (Trust me, I’m nopt trying to compete with Mark Mayerson‘s brilliant “Mosaics”. This is too hard; I have no intention of keeping it up.)

Pinocchio and 101 Dalmatians got my mosaic treatment because I enjoy spending the necessary time with those films to break them down. I’m not a big fan of Sleeping Beauty. The thought of spending months staring at it doesn’t appeal to me. It’s probably my least favorite Disney feature done while Disney was alive, so if you want to do a mosaic for it, be my guest.

Thanks, Mark. But it’s too much work for me. Maybe a couple of sequences like this post, but I can’t imagine doing an entire film.

Beautiful stuff. Always so much great to see here, but I just can’t keep up! Some day I’ll have to take a week or two and just troll the archives of your blog. I really can’t fathom how you manage to put so much of this together.

Wow, that’s a lot of gorgeous work. You mentioned this was in the Special Edition and not the Platinum edition, what’s the difference and which one do you recommend? (If you don’t mind me asking.)

Yasumine, to be honest, I don’t know the difference between the two dvd’s. I know there’s a documentary about the making of SB on the new Platinum version (I was interviewed for it and know of a number of quite a few others who were also part of it.) Beyond that I can’t offer much more than Amazon could tell you.

Well that’s good enough for me, more is better. Thank you!
