Robins

Pick a little, talk a little, pick a little, talk a little,
cheep cheep cheep, talk a lot, pick a little more
Pick a little, talk a little, pick a little, talk a little,
cheep cheep cheep, talk a lot, pick a little more
Pick a little, talk a little, pick a little, talk a little.

Heidi’s currently directing THE MUSIC MAN for a local theater group. This song has been
playing on a loop in the recent background. It somehow seemed appropriate for this post.

It’s really not, but so what; I like it.

- Steve Fisher has been posting some amazing photos of activity in his backyard in Maspeth, Queens, NY. It’s obviously Spring:

Today, May 22, I see that all four eggs have hatched and the chicks are getting fuzzy…

And hungry.

In all the shots with the mother robin, it’s the telephoto lens
that lets me get in so tight – I am safely 20 feet away from her.
It’s only when she leaves the nest to gather meals for the kids or
to take in a movie that I can peer right into the nest with a normal lens
within inches of the chicks and I have a look-out
in case the mother comes home early.

First time all four chicks are up at the same time. All they do is eat, sleep and grow.

    A Peanuts Sunday strip…

These are really nice pictures. When I saw them earlier today, my first notion was to write: Someone give those birds a sandwich!

But, I refrained…until now. Now my attempt at humor would probably be:
Even robins know it is all about Location, Location, Location! Their roost is quite lovely.

Keep ‘em coming! It would be cool to see the peeps before they leave the nest.

One other thing, sort of Peanuts related and to anyone in particular:

“Moonrise Kingdom”. Is there a “Peanuts” vibe to it? I’ve always made a wild guess that Charles Schulz might like Wes Anderson films. Might. But, I saw something with Bill Murray giving a tour of the sets ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m-8OOvf1NPY ) which made me wonder about this latest flick.

    Hint: the pants.

And, by “made me wonder”… I mean that I wonder if this film has the does indeed have the same vibe. I didn’t mean that the Murray clip made me think it would be different. The comment about the pants was just one of the things that, to me, might further the similarity to Schulz’s comic. Maybe.

Now this is a nice storyboard!

That is a good point about the storyboard.

About the remark I posted earlier, regarding the “Peanuts” influences:

I don’t read Slate as often as I used to read it. However, I was checking it out and saw this article, Is Moonrise Kingdom Wes Anderson’s Peanuts Special?

I another mention of the Melendez specials in a review, too. Which kind of makes me happy because it reinforces that that notion I’ve had for a while about Schulz’s influence. While I have yet to read the entire article, it is mentioned that in an interview Anderson brings up his influences and Bill Melendez is included in that list.

    Thought I’d share it.
