America the Beautiful

- Given the selection of Paul Ryan as Romney‘s running mate, I had to tune in to the speeches of excess. The pair followed the George Bush lead as they appeared, running off a Navy ship (albeit a retired one), to make their speeches. Thus we can see that these great Republicans are would-be military men (except that neither of them has served any time in the military.)

I had to celebrate today by selecting some well placed flags from past blog posts and wave them high.
Again.

God Bless America.
(Of course, I’m nervous that Obama won’t win and these two will get in and completely derail America. They sure try hard but are completely unsympathetic to me or my family or my way of life. Read the editorial in today’s NYTimes.)

The first and last pictures are the brilliant handiwork of Steve Fisher. Thank you, Steve.

That’s about enough of that.

Happy Sunday.

I’m sure the same is true of other countries if fools were compelled to do it. Though I doubt that the weapons and ammunition would be as available elsewhere. There are mentally damaged people all around the world.

I see it as a greater crime to exploit the lower classes the way Paul Ryan, Eric Cantor and the sobbing leader, Boehner, are want to do. To hold America hostage, these bastards are taking advantage of their opportunities, and hurting their constituencies. And America the beautiful, as well. These people are not crazy, they just mean to do harm for their ideology.

I’m glad someone else sees the dangers of an economic system that only benefits the wealthy. And what do they do with that wealth? Offshore jobs so they keep more of the money… oh and then they stash the cash in offshore bank accounts so that they don’t even have to pay taxes on it. Thanks Republicans!

You pontificate about how horrible Romney and Ryan are and how they will “derail” America without providing any reasoning as to why you think so, or why you think Obama is any better (posting a link to some left-wing hack’s NYT editorial doesn’t count). Unless you haven’t noticed, the “lower classes” aren’t doing so hot under Obama (oh wait, that’s ALL the Republican’s fault too).

Fred, I have no intention of arguing politics with you on my blog. You will quote Fox News and Rush Limbaugh in trying to discredit your President as a vain attempt to persuade me that you’re right. I will quote my idea of the truth (which is the truth, incidentally), and the results will be moot. More arguing over more arguing on a blog. Please keep your ideas to yourself, I won’t debate you. It’s my blog, however, so I will say whatever it is that I want to. God Bless America.

In my downtime I am a scholar of Ayn Rand (read every other thing she’s ever wrote, including ‘Atlas Shrugged’ in one month) – the best humor novelist of this or any millenium, preserving her Russian style of Simile into American storytelling rhythm.

When Paul Ryan announced that he takes her politics seriously as some do their god, I retched.

Not that they’d be terrible, but they’d be terrible. Romney hasn’t taken a clear position on anything, any actual future plans, nothing that he hasn’t flip-flopped. He thinks he’s ‘Edgy’ by denouncing Obama to the NAACP – were they really going to vote for him anyway?
(As a Chicago native, I’d be voting Obama no matter what happens, but don’t confuse the fearful for the spineless. Romney is an Ayn Rand villian come to horrifying life.)

And a Republican administration wouldn’t be so kind to the arts as we’d hope, would it…

Liim – Ryan denounced Rand when he found out she was an athiest. Either you agree with a philosophy or you don’t. What kind of Willie Nelson fan stops liking Willie Nelson because he smokes pot?

Fred – Ryan and Romney lose all credibility to me when they talk about fiscal responsibilty yet want to continue the Bush TAX BREAKS. Where is the logic? It’s like someone charging on their credit card even though they don’t have the income to make the payments.

And that’s least of my worries about the R & R ticket.

Imagine how many people will be on the streets when Medicare and Social Security are privatized.
